Rubenstein usually deals with the connection between movement, body and emotion and questions related to control and lack of control, through sculpture drawing and installation. Our desire to control everything and our lack of control over almost nothing is what drives her to create. Rubinstein often investigates issues related to the human psyche are most often expressed in mechanical mechanisms. Hence, Rubenstein's interest in creating kinetic sculptures or in creating objects in which the potential of movement is embedded. These in her view reveal the mechanical nature of our effort to achieve certainty and certainty and express our dual lack of control: our lack of control over our fate and case for us and our lack of control over our natural response to those situations imposed on us from the outside.

ליטל רובנשטיין עוסקת לרוב בחיבור בין תנועה, גוף ורגש ובשאלות שקשורות לשליטה וחוסר שליטה, דרך פיסול רישום ומיצב. הרצון שלנו לשלוט בכל וחוסר היכולת שלנו לשלוט כמעט בכלום הוא זה שמפעיל אותה ליצור ומהווה לה נקודת מוצא. כך רובנשטיין חוקרת לרוב נושאים הקשורים לנפש האדם ונותנת להם ביטוי במנגנונים מכאניים. מכאן, נוצר העניין של רובנשטיין ביצירת פסלים קינטיים או ביצירת אובייקטים שפוטנציאל התנועה גלום בהם. אלו לטעמה חושפים את האופי המכני של מאמצנו להשיג בטחון וודאות ומבטאים את חוסר השליטה הכפול שלנו: אי השליטה שלנו בגורלנו ובמתרחש לנו ואי השליטה שלנו בתגובתנו הטבעית לאותם מצבים הנכפים עלינו מבחוץ.
