Liat Segal
A contemporary media artist, fusing together art and technology. Liat deals with the questions of existence in the age of Big Data by materializing them. In her works, she harnesses information, software, electronics and mechanics to build installations and machines that connect the physical world with virtual ones. Segal observes inconsistencies and dissonances that rise when personal lives meet technological evolving environments and questions issues such as intimacy vs. alienation, privacy vs. over-exposure, control, identity, memory and originality as they reflect in technology.
Liat graduated M.Sc. studies in Applied Arts & Sciences (Minerva Schools KGI, San Francisco, 2017), M.Sc. in Computer Science and Biology (Tel Aviv University, 2007) and the Interdisciplinary Program for fostering excellence (Tel Aviv University, 2005). She worked as a researcher at Microsoft Innovation Labs (2009) and taught at the Bezalel School of Arts and Design at the Hebrew University.
Segal's recent works were exhibited at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn, Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt, National American Jewish History Museum Philadelphia, Hansen House Jerusalem, Amsterdam Light Festival, Jerusalem International Light Festival and others.

אמנית ניו מדיה המשלבת אמנות וטכנולוגיה. סגל, המגיעה מרקע טכנולוגי ומדעי, רותמת בעבודותיה טכנולוגיות ומידע כחומרי גלם ומשתמשת בהם לבניית מכונות ומייצבים הקושרים בין העולם הפיזי ועולמות וירטואלים. סגל יוצרת ומתבוננת בסיטואציות של חוסר הלימה העולות מחיי היום יום האישיים בתוך סביבות טכנולוגיות ושואלת שאלות העוסקות באינטימיות מול ניכור, פרטיות מול חשיפת יתר, זהות, זכרון, ומקוריות.
ליאת בעלת תואר שני במדעי המחשב וביולוגיה והתכנית הבין-תחומית על שם עדי לאוטמן מאוניברסיטת תל אביב, ותואר שני מאוניברסיטת Minerva בסן פרנסיסקו, בהם התמחתה בביואינפורמטיקה, בינה מלאכותית ומערכות מורכבות. עבדה כחוקרת במעבדות החדשנות של מייקרוסופט ולימדה באקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב, בצלאל, באוניברסיטה העברית ובמכון הטכנולוגי בחולון.
סגל הציגה תערוכות יחיד במשכן האמנים הרצליה (Random Walk, 2019), בCentre Intermondes בלה רושל, צרפת (2018Vessel Streaming, ), בגלריה Kanya בברלין (This is Not a Typewriter, 2016), במוזיאון ההיסטוריה היהודית האמריקאית בפילדלפיה (Scattered Light, 2015) ובבית הנסן בירושלים (People You May Know, 2014).
עבודותיה האחרונות הוצגו בתערוכות קבוצתיות במוזיאון ישראל, בבונדסקונסטהלה בבון, במוזיאון לאמנות שימושית בפרנקפורט, מוזיאון הרצליה, מרכז רוטקו בדאוגבפילס לטוויה, פסטיבל האור באמסטרדם, משכן האמנים הרצליה, גלריה רו-ארט, מקום לאמנות בקריית המלאכה ועוד.
