The movement and gestures of writing comprise my painting language, and it is through them that I try to capture memory itself. At first glance the painting looks very graphic and structured, almost like a biblical page from the Talmud. I write in Hebrew from right to left and upside down, building lines of text that weave together into a kind of tapestry, creating parallel perspectives and meeting points. 

Sometimes I write in overlaying layers with alternating directions until the writing becomes illegible and starts to resemble some ancient language. I paint with a single brush on a white canvas, dipping the brush in black paint and letting it run dry, the strokes getting thinner and thinner until I apply the paint once again. This repetition naturally creates a cyclical rhythm within the painting.

On the surface of the canvas, I cover entire areas with thin meticulous writing, only to go over them with wide and expressive strokes, gestural marks of the body. This is how a dialogue between the mind and the spirit begins to take place. It is a journey into an internal place of observation that reaches beyond language.
