Orr builds installations that combine the movement of water, light and object and examines the function and physicality of skin through creating damaged, torn and multilayered skins using polymers. She explores skin as a physical barrier as well as its existence as a mental protection layer. Orr is inspired by the world of psychoanalysis (namely Didier Anzieu) borrowing its terminology and imagery such as: primary skin, secondary skin, protective shield, perforated encasing. In her practice there is strong reference to the organic and natural growth incubators. Incubators as containers: from cocoons to eggs as well as the spaces and contents in which we live, become and grow, for instance a Toddlers House in the Kibbutz, in Orr’s case. From sloughing through shells and bags, Orr’s containers are flooded, perforated, ripped until gaping open, and of impaired functionality.

עבודות המיצב של תמר אור משלבות תנועת מים, אור, אובייקטים וחיישנים. רבים מפסליה מבקשים לבחון את העור על תכונותיו הפיזיות ושימושיו השונים. באמצעות פולימרים היא מייצרת סוגי עור: פגום, רב שכבתי, קרוע ומאוחה ומתעמקת במשמעותו הן כמגן פיזי והן כמעטפת נפשית. יצירתה נשענת על השראות ומושגים מעולם הפסיכואנליזה (בעיקר דידייה אנזייה) כמו: עור ראשוני, עור שניוני, מגן גרייה ומעטפת מחוררת. לעבודות זיקה חזקה לאורגני ולבתי גידול בטבע כגון גולם, ביצה, נשלים וקונכיות כאשר כולם מאופיינים בפונקציונאליות לקויה ופגומה. העיסוק במיכלים ממשיך עד חללים ביתיים, תיקים, מגירות ומבנים דוגמת בית ילדים.
